Why we're hosting the Summit

By 2030, nearly one in four Canadians will be a senior. Most want to age safely and with dignity in the homes they love. The technology exists. The infrastructure to deploy it at scale doesn't. Closing the gap takes more than great technology. It takes partnership, integration, and the caregivers, care teams, and families who make aging-in-place possible.

Chris Engst

My mom is part of why this matters to me. So are the millions of Canadians who deserve to age safely and with dignity at home.

Transforming the future of aging.

TELUS Health is bringing agetech innovators together to pitch live at TELUS Garden on July 22.

  • Privacy-first sensors that show care teams what's happening between visits, so subtle changes in routine get noticed before they become emergencies.

  • Patented safety technology uses radar to detect forgotten cooking and automatically shuts off stove power — before a fire can start.

  • Turns the living-room TV into a caregiving hub: remote help, big-screen video calls and check-ins, all run from a family member's phone.

    Visit website
  • Turns existing home Wi-Fi into ambient sensing, with no cameras or wearables, surfacing meaningful changes in activity to caregivers.

  • Camera-free, wearable-free home monitoring that learns daily routines, detects falls and alerts family when something's off.

  • A one-touch video-calling device disguised as a familiar bedside clock. No menus, logins or apps for the senior to learn.

Questions

What you might want to know.

Is there a cost to apply or attend?

No cost to apply. Applicants are responsible for all travel-related expenses.

Who owns the IP from the sprint?

Specific terms and conditions are covered in the participation agreement and NDA.

What kind of products are you looking for?

Fall detection, caregiver support, in-home monitoring, cognitive and emotional wellbeing, medication management, remote care, voice and AI, and connected devices. We're open to other categories in the space.

What's the time commitment for the sprint?

A meaningful share of your team's time over 90 days, with weekly meetings to align on milestones and associated progress with approximately 3–5 hours per week with the working team dedicated to sprint-specific milestones.

Do we have to be Canadian?

No, but you must have a credible plan to operate in Canada. TELUS Health's senior care work is in Canada.

What is the Product Showcase?

The Product Showcase is an immersive exhibition where selected participants move beyond the pitch to provide hands-on demonstrations. It allows key internal and external stakeholders to experience the technology firsthand, enabling them to provide critical feedback directly to the decision-makers evaluating the solutions.

What stage of company are you looking for?

Commercially-ready. A working product, real users, and revenue or a clear path to it.

Can we apply if we've talked to TELUS before?

Yes. Existing relationships don't disqualify you, and they don't give you a head start. Every application is reviewed the same way.
